Breaking from whatever scent trail he’d been following, Dale looks up to the voice. The dignified accent of the vulpine seems hospitable enough, so he turns toward the fox and takes a few paces closer. “Yessir!” He waggles his ears and smiles, a touch proudly that anyone noticed him, fox or human the attention was nice.

“Gee, I can’t remember the last time I saw a fox around! I was following my nose for a while, I thought I smelled peanuts and uh.. the next thing I know, there are trees in every direction!” His ears bow, a sheepish grin forming as he speaks. “Do you know where I am?”

The foxes ears twitched with delight as the creature began to speak. Most talking animals had retreated because of Maugrim’s attacks. A foxy grin crossed his sharp teeth and he bowed his head politely. The red fox chuckled slightly at the chimpmunk’s speech. “Why of course my young adventurous friend, you are in the great land of Narnia. Perhaps, Pattertwig knows where you can collect food. As a fox I haven’t the nose or the taste buds for nuts of any kind.” The fox’s tail wagged back and forth with pride.

A chuckle slightly on the nervous side. Dale bows his head in greeting. “I hope you don’t have a taste for nut eaters, either.” His tail wagged thoughtfully in response to the fox’s own. “Your friend’s name is Pattertwig? Gosh, that’s a nice name! Makes a name like Dale seem kinda ordinary.”

Sir fox chuckled deeply in his particular kind way so as not to frighten the chipper chipmunk. “I don’t believe I do. Besides I haven’t any interest in eating you small one.” His golden eyes lit with fondness as he spoke of his friends.

“Pattertwig is very … very chiper. He likes to beam things with nuts. He has a fairly good aim. But Dale is a lovely name. Mine is even worse… I am called Sir Fox. Dale is a nice name compared to the generics.” He added with a foxy but polite grin.
